"When is this going to stop?" Darlene, our execut "When is this going to stop?" Darlene, our executive director, spoke with LEX 18 on Friday morning about the tragic domestic homicide of Candice Mackie -- a mother, niece, and friend. Darlene urged the community to believe survivors and shared information about confidential services available to support victims. "You don't have to give us your name," she says. “You can make a phone call and just start talking about what your lived experience is, what your fears are, what your hopes are, and we'll help you navigate ways to get there as safely as possible." After she spoke with the media, news broke about a criminal warrant issued in July that remained unserved at the time of the murder. We're actively working to learn more details... It will always be our position that victims and survivors deserve a quick and decisive systemic response -- because every domestic violence incident has the potential for lethality.
