Your purchase of fresh-cut flowers from our farm supports survivors of intimate partner abuse during their journey of safety and self-sufficiency, while encouraging nature-based healing.
Please review the following information about event flowers from our farm before submitting a request for an estimate. Our small farm can only fulfill a limited number of event flower orders during our flower growing season. Flowers are provided ready for do-it-yourself arranging.
What months are flowers available?
We typically harvest flowers from May to September, but the season can change based on dates for first and last frosts. We cannot fulfill requests for event flowers between October and April.
What do you mean by ready for do-it-yourself arranging?
Flowers from our farm are provided by the stem. Orders can be loosely bundled or provided in buckets. We don’t provide arranged flowers or event flower installations; however, we can share referrals to floral designers in central Kentucky upon request.
How much do your flowers cost?
Cost is determined per the number of stems needed and will be provided after we learn more about your order.
Do you deliver?
Not typically. We prefer event flowers be picked up from our farm. Delivery to locations with a Lexington-Fayette address could be possible for an additional fee.
What kind of flowers do you grow?
Flowers grown on our farm are local and season. Colors and varieties change throughout the summer. Examples of the most prolific flowers on our farm include Ageratum, Celosia, Cosmos, Gomphrena, Rudbeckia, Sunflowers, and Zinnia. Sample photos of our flowers are included at the bottom of this page. We do not grow roses.
Is your farm organic?
Although not USDA certified, we use organic fertilizers and pesticides derived from natural sources. Drip irrigation and hand labor reduces our farm’s carbon footprint, and the crops we plant provide a habitat for pollinators and beneficial insects. Little bug bites on leaves here and there are a reminder that we only use sustainable and responsible practices on our farm.
How does my purchase support survivors of intimate partner abuse?
Your flower purchase supports nature-based healing opportunities on the farm that surrounds our emergency shelter for survivors and their children. Our farm is supported by research related to healing outcomes of therapeutic gardens and “social farming” as a means to promote healing and community networks in rural areas. The farm also provides job training and micro-enterprise opportunities for survivors, while raising funding to support our mission.
Is my purchase tax-deductible?
Probably not because the cost for your flowers will be similar to the market value; however, we recommend speaking with a tax professional to confirm. Should you require additional information for tax purposes, please contact us.
